The Koshi chime is a beautifully crafted musical instrument designed with care and precision. Handmade by Kabir at the foot of the Pyrenean mountains, each chime is a unique work of art, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern acoustic technology. The chime features eight silver-welded chords on a metal plate, creating a clear, harmonic sound that evolves as the shorter chords transition into longer ones, creating a circular, resonant tonal range.
The chime's resonance tube is made from bamboo veneer, a material valued for its acoustic properties. The bamboo is treated with natural oil to enhance its durability and sound quality. Its cylindrical shape, measuring 6.3 cm in diameter and 16.5 cm in height, adds depth to the chime's tone, producing a rich array of overtones that make it unique in both design and sound.
The Koshi chime comes in four distinct melodies Terra, Aqua, Aria, and Ignis, each inspired by one of the four classical elements. These melodies are designed to harmonize with each other, creating a calming and peaceful atmosphere when used together. Whether placed inside or outdoors, the chime is a versatile addition to any space, bringing natural sound and tranquility.
If you choose to place the chime outdoors, it's recommended to treat the bamboo with a wood finish to protect it from weather elements and ensure its longevity. This adds a layer of care to keep the chime in optimal condition for years to come.

No, the bowls are about expression, which begins with us. You will naturally develop sensitivity and a relationship to music and sound by playing the bowls over time.

Can I begin with one bowl or do I need a set?
Many people begin with one bowl and find additional bowls over time, building a set or a collection at each stage they are ready to expand. Some people want to begin playing a set immediately and when they are ready they purchase one of our guardian sets or we help them to create a bespoke set. Our bowls are all available to view online and in person at The Alchemies Studio in Sussex. If you are looking online, go to our shop page to view our entire collection, every bowl has a video and lots of information to read. If you are drawn to specific colours or gemstones, minerals and metals, you can use the search bar.
If you're looking for a particular note, you can now view the relevant bowls collection by tapping/ clicking on the note you need (Just under the search bar).
If you want to visit in person, you can attend a workshop, soundbath or a private session with Genevra at the Alchemies Studio.

Are there any precautions or contraindications to playing bowls?
We advise you to seek advice from a medical practitioner before playing Crystal Singing Bowls if you are pregnant, wear a pacemaker, are photosensitive, prone to seizures or epilepsy, have a serious mental disorder, or are under the influence of medication. You are not recommended to drive a car or operate safety-critical equipment after playing the Crystal Singing Bowls until you feel super awake, present and grounded. We suggest you get full training and gain professional indemnity insurance if you want to play the bowls safely for others.

Individually the bowls start at around seven hundred pounds and go up to several thousand pounds each. The price of each bowl or set will depend upon the complexity of each creation, the rarity of the gemstone, mineral or metal, and the size and additional elements added to the advanced blended bowls with more than one component.
